Introductory Course

This course is a prerequisite for group lessons. It is once a week, two hours long and lasts four consecutive weeks. This gives 8 hours worth of class time. Each course has 4 students and two horses. Students will have the opportunity to help each other while learning the basics of horsemanship. We touch on many subjects so students after the course is complete will have an idea of what they would like to focus on. Some things the course will cover are: safety, grooming, tacking, lunging, communication, steering, stopping, bareback, english, western and steering through our seat and legs.  We will also briefly go over barrel, pole and reining patterns, parts of the saddle, different bits and horse anatomy. Upon completion of the course, you will recieve a C&C Riding T-Shirt!

If you would like to take group lessons but are unable to do the course, you may sign up for private lessons until the basics are covered.

We have a few options for instructors this year: Kylee Prince 435-999-4314, Courtney Carlson 801-718-4652 and Alena Kimball 801-674-7230. We also have a few interns that have a horse background and are wanting to expand their abilities. We are a teaching school and will have our interns training with us on how we run our program. There maybe times when they will be stepping in to fill in for a instructor if they are unavailable for their normal lesson time.
Our training interns this year are TBA

Kylee Prince 435-999-4314

Alena Kimball 801-674-7230

Special Note

All minors must ride with a helmet. We have a few spare helmets if one is forgotten but we don't guarantee we'll have the size you need. If no helmet is available, we can work on ground work with the student.

Safety is our number one priority. When working with large animals it is critical for students to listen and perform tasks the instructor gives. If at any point the instructor feels like a situation is becoming unsafe, we will ask the rider to dismount. This is to keep you, other riders, horses and instructors safe.

Students must wear long pants and secure shoes. We highly recommend riding in boots but lace up shoes will work. Please note that some days could have mud where we tack up, please plan accordingly.
We recommend bringing a water bottle and wearing weather appropriate clothing.

I was born and raised in Cache Valley. Growing up most of my eperience had just been ranch horses. When I turned 18, I discovered cutting horses and I moved to Arizona, then Kansa, and quite a few more places to pursue a career as a loper/assistant trainer. In my time there I assisted with advanced riding lessons and prepping horses to show. After a few years in the cutting world I moved back to Cache Valley and found my way into roping and teaching lessons!

I grew up in West Valley City Utah. I am a student at USU and am graduation with my bachelors degree in Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences in May 2024. I did not grow up in agriculture or riding horses but have always loved it. Through school and work experiences I have learned to work with numerous animals and Western Riding. I have worked in the Grand Tetons leading trail rides and discovered I love teaching beginners and seeing people connect with horses.
